Canadian Medical Team Develops a Diagnosis of Scoliosis With a Lebanese Contribution
A specialized Canadian team, including Lebanese medical researcher Nancy Karam, succeeded in producing the first test of its kind for an early detection of Scoliosis.
The team working at the St. Justine Hospital studying partial hereditary muscle and scoliosis at the University of Montreal has succeeded in making good progress on the subject.

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side, and may also be rotated. To adults it can be very painful. It is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine.

Karam, who is a medical PhD student in biotechnology at the University of Montreal, expressed her "pride in being part of the research team that succeeded in achieving a qualitative and unique move in healing this condition."

"There are many factors that help the spread of scoliosis, most important of which, are genetic and environmental," Karam said.
