| Religious Education - Fersan Al-Adra (Knights of Mary) |
|
Every Saturday at 10:45 AM.
The program we use in the religion program is called The Born of the Spirit program. This Canadian catechetical program builds in stages on the essential childhood education in faith that parents provide; the parish is a support for catechesis. The children are encouraged to bridge the gap between their lessons and lives by sharing all that they have learned each week with their families and friends. It is vital that children experience Sunday Eucharist on a weekly basis to allow them to feel they belong to a parish community, and to reinforce concepts learned each week in religion class. In the church they will hear the same stories being read, see the same symbols being used, and experience the sense of belonging to the family of God.
It is our task in these religion classes to show who Jesus Christ is, his ministry, and to present the Christian faith as the following of his person. Fundamental tasks of catechesis are promoting the knowledge of faith, liturgical education, moral formation, and teaching to pray.
The Born of the Spirit series is broken into two progressive cycles with years 1-3 forming cycle 1 and years 3-6 forming cycle 2. The We are strong together series continues the faith development in years 7-9. these programs are bases on the storytelling, celebration and prayer.
